The VI Peel is a medium-strength, medical-grade chemical peel that helps to minimize signs of aging, fine lines, wrinkles, sun damage, hyperpigmentation, melasma, uneven skin texture, and dullness. Our aestheticians also use chemical peels for acne, scarring, and to help reduce pore size.
The VI Peel works by removing both the epidermis (the top layer of skin) and the uppermost section of the underlying dermal layers, allowing them to be replaced by smoother, brighter skin. This makes the VI Peel an excellent rejuvenation option for younger skin, even if it has no visible signs of aging.

The VI Peel is effective for all skin types and colors and can be used on the face, neck, chest, arms, back and legs. Treatments take around 30 minutes and are usually painless. We recommend that you wash off the peel around 4-6 hours after treatment with water and a mild cleanser. Typically, your skin will begin peeling around three days after treatment.
This treatment is an especially attractive anti-aging option because it requires no skin preparation, causes minimal discomfort and has little downtime.

Chemical Peel FAQs
While there isn’t a strict preparation protocol for this treatment, there are a few things we recommend avoiding in advance of your appointment. In the days before your appointment, refrain from exfoliating, waxing/shaving/other forms of hair removal, using makeup products, and sunbathing/tanning. And be sure to stay hydrated – drink lots of water and avoid products that may dry out your skin.
First, our team will identify any pre-existing conditions or concerns that you wish to address with your treatment. This will help us determine the best peel option for you and your skin. Then, we will cleanse any dirt and oil from your face and apply the chemical peel solution in two layers. We recommend washing off the peel 4-6 hours after treatment.
- On the day of the treatment, do not wash, touch, or apply makeup or sunscreen to the skin for at least 4-6 hours while the peel is still applied.
- Avoid rubbing the skin with anything harsh, such as a sponge or a washcloth.
- Don’t pick off the dry skin.
- Avoid direct sunlight while your skin is peeling. Wear sunscreen when you go outside.
- Keep your skin hydrated with plenty of moisturizers.
Your skin will begin peeling around 3 days after treatment. Once the skin has stopped peeling, you will notice a luminous glow. However, you will notice the optimal results around 4-6 weeks after treatment, when the peel begins to promote cellular turnover. Our favorite part about VI Peels is that just a single treatment will result in noticeable and restorative repair!
A single VI Peel can dramatically improve the appearance of your skin. The key to keeping that appearance is maintenance. Be sure to limit your sun exposure, use sunscreen regularly, and (if possible) return to Dermal Advantage Med Spa for VI Peel treatments 3-4 times per year.
One of the best parts about the VI Peel is that it works on ALL skin types! This is an especially exciting advancement for people with darker skin tones, who are often unable to use other chemical peels. The VI Peel is a good option for those with mild to moderate skin damage, acne or acne scarring, and/or noticeable signs of aging.
Although VI Peel treatments don’t burn, some people do feel a slight stinging sensation. If there is any sting, it only lasts for a few seconds before disappearing completely as the skin becomes numb.
Because the VI Peel is such a gentle treatment, it is relatively painless and has few side effects. Some patients do report mild tingling or burning, which can be remedied with a fan or other source of cold air. It is also normal to notice some slight discoloration as the skin peels after treatment.
Some risk factors for developing dark spots after a VI Peel include: having darker skin, estrogen use, pregnancy, excessive sun exposure after the procedure. Be sure to speak with one of our team members if any of these apply to you, so we can plan accordingly!
